Botanic Garden

Botanic Garden

The Botanic Garden is a beautiful place that contains many plants from our country and other countries too, one of the most important is our "palma de cera" or "palm wax" which is the Colombian national tree. This tree has many characteristics like it can reach about 70 meters of height and when a leave falls it leaves a black ring in it's trunk.
The Botanic garden contains an exhibition about the ecosystems in which they simulate each ecosystem so you can learn about them. This garden contains a variety of plants thanks to José Celestino Mutis which created the "Botanic expedition" unfortunately the Botanic garden wasn't founded by him, it was founded or created in honor of José Celestino Mutis in 1995 by Enrique Pérez Arbeláez.
The botanic garden is the biggest garden in all of Colombia an contains a big variety of plants like our national tree. I think you should visit it since it is a great place for learning about nature and it's types of plants and ecosystems.

Quinta de Bolivar

Quinta de Bolivar

The Quinta de Bolivar is a fun historic place with many activities, expositions and tours. The Quinta de Bolivar was given to Simon Bolivar after the war of the independence; the Quinta was damaged because of the deteriorating. After the final victory over the Spanish, the government of New Granada acquired the property with the purpose of giving it to the Liberator, “as a small token of gratitude and appreciation that is constituted by the Department of Cundinamarca so immense benefits that it has fulfilled His Excellency,
giving back our freedom.”
There are many fun activities like guided tours in English, Scavenger hunts and commented visits. The Quinta de Bolivar is also a green place because it’s full of beautiful flowers and vegetables of that time. I really like The Quinta de Bolivar because of all the antiques and objects that were used in that time even if most of them weren’t of Bolivar, I also really like it because it shows how life was in the past and how technology has helped the evolution of life.
